Reactive & Aggressive Dogs

Compassionate, dog-led services for dogs who struggle—and humans who feel overwhelmed.

If your dog barks, lunges, growls, snaps, or reacts intensely to people, dogs, sounds, handling, or new environments… you are in the right place.

At Soul Dogs Resources & Rescue Centre, we specialize in working with reactive and aggressive dogs using a dog-led, trauma-informed approach that focuses on safety, emotional regulation, and sustainable progress—not punishment.

Reactive dogs are not “bad dogs.”
They are often overwhelmed dogs, communicating the only way they know how.

Who We Help

Our services are designed for dogs who may struggle with:

  • Leash reactivity (barking, lunging, pulling)
  • Fear-based aggression
  • Stranger danger / handling sensitivity
  • Reactivity toward dogs, people, or children
  • Barrier frustration (fence fighting, window reactivity)
  • Bite history or near-bite incidents
  • Nervous, shutdown, or unpredictable behavior
  • High-arousal and impulse control struggles

And we support the humans who feel:

  • Embarrassed on walks
  • Afraid of making it worse
  • Exhausted and overwhelmed
  • Judged by others
  • Unsure what to do next

You deserve support that feels safe, respectful, and realistic.

The Reactivity Triad

Soul Dogs has founded the reactivity triad as a concept that makes owning a reactive dog easy to understand.

With the triad there is the defining behavior reactive, aggressive, anxious etc. Second what the human does with those responses will affect the outcome of the dog’s wellbeing.

What do we mean the human responses? Humans can maintain or modify the behavior their dogs are communicating with them. Most of the time owners are unable to recognize reactivity in their dogs.
